I would consider myself...

I am a student
I would describe myself as a lifelong learner; I started my college experience with a passion for history.  I have a B.S. in history, and then earned a M.S. in literacy education from Alfred University.  However, I believe that you never stop learning; I am continually growing my content knowledge and teaching repertoire by pursuing professional development and through my own exploration.

I am a teacher
I have taught for the last three years in two very diverse districts.  Each district had unique challenges and mastering those challenges has given me confidence.  I have taught junior level English all three years and have had about 95% passing rate for my students on the Regents exam, with 100% success my first year as a teacher.  This past year I taught a course that focused on Science Fiction and Fantasy literature, and I found that I loved the intense focus on the genre.  The AIS course I taught gave me the opportunity to try different strategies with students.
